Meet David Maxim Lilienstein and Alice J. Wolfson, the dedicated San Jose insurance lawyers of the DL Law Group. 

David Maxim Lilienstein, Esq.

David Maxim Lilienstein, Esq., is the founder of the DL Law Group. He is an insurance law specialist with extensive experience representing policyholders in insurance bad faith and ERISA actions. Mr. Lilienstein is also trained as a specialist in other areas of consumer representation, including Landlord-Tenant law. As one measure of Mr. Lilienstein’s experience and dedication among insurance lawyers in San Jose, he has achieved Advocate status from the National College of Advocacy, American Trial lawyers Association (now the American Association for Justice), and is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in California. Mr. Lilienstein appears regularly as a guest insurance expert on KRON-TV’s afternoon news, and has also logged numerous appearances on KRON-TV’s morning financial news program, Rob Black and Your Money.  In addition, he has also authored numerous articles on disability insurance.

Mr. Lilienstein graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he was the editor of the Journal of Law and Social Challenges. He served as a judicial extern at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Lilienstein received his undergraduate degree from Grinnell College. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the San Francisco Trial lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice and the Bar Association of San Francisco. 

Alice J. Wolfson, Esq.


Alice J. Wolfson, Esq. Of Counsel to the DL Law Group, is one of most recognized and successful insurance attorneys in San Jose in the area of insurance bad faith. She has represented both corporate and individual policyholders, with a particular emphasis on individual disability insurance policies. As a trial lawyer, her work resulted in a unanimous bad faith verdict in Federal Court in the case of McGregor v. Paul Revere (UnumProvident). Later, in the landmark case of Hangarter v. Provident (UnumProvident), Ms. Wolfson and her team obtained a five million dollar punitive damages award. Ms. Wolfson’s experience also includes appellate work, as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously upheld both of the above verdicts.

Ms. Wolfson has spoken on insurance issues generally, and insurance bad faith in particular, throughout the country. Her preeminence among insurance lawyers has earned her speaking engagements sponsored by, among others, the American Bar Association, Consumer Attorneys of America, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, the Western Trial Lawyers, the Bar Association of San Francisco, and the American Conference Institute. Ms. Wolfson’s television appearances include PBS: The American Experience, Canadian Public Television, and The History Channel. She has been a columnist for Health Magazine and the San Francisco Bay Guardian, and was the Washington Correspondent for Medical Dimensions Magazine. She has also served as a consumer representative for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
